Hyatt Lost Pines ~A Hidden Gem Deep in the Heart of Texas

Do you ever show up to a vacation and feel right at home? That’s the way we always feel when we drive up to the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines. It’s one of our FAVORITE resorts. It’s located about 20 min East of Austin close to a small town named Bastrop. Our family and I have been vacationing at this resort for more then 15 years! I’ll let you in on all the fun and why we keep going back year after year.

Tranquil setting

Set back about a 10 minute drive from the main highway and close to the Colorado River, Hyatt Lost Pines is very secluded. There are some beautiful trails perfect for walking, biking and even riding horses. Every morning I take a walk around the property and it is so pretty and peaceful. (Walk down to the Colorado River ~ the perfect family photo op as well)

Crooked River Water Park and Pool

During the summer, we spend most our time at the pool. As you enter the pool area there is a place to grab towels and a small gift shop where they sell plenty of pool necessities. (floats, sunscreen, etc)

What I love most about this resort are the trees that create so much beauty and SHADE! There is the main pool with water volleyball and other activities that make a good hang out. Connected to the pool is my favorite place ~ the lazy river. Our favorite spot is under a Giant tree that is close to an entrance to the river. There is also a 2 story slide and luxury poolside cabanas that have TV’s ~ perfect for a large family. You might try their adults-only private pool with hot tub for time to relax away from the kids. The pool complex is open for night swimming and in the winter some areas of the pool are heated.

Resort Activities

With so much to do we often don’t leave the resort our entire stay. When checking in you get a list of all the activities available during the week. I will highlight our favorites as there is so much to do for everyone.

*Meet the Animals~ A fun meet and greet you don’t want to miss ~ your child will love meeting the animals. Check your activities sheet for more info. You can also ride bikes or walk to their barn to visit them all.

So many cute animals to meet!

*Arts and Crafts time ~ Every summer day under the trees by the playground they have arts and crafts time. My kids always loved to do this when they were younger. It was a perfect time to take a break from the pool. Check your activities sheet for times and the craft of the day.

*Movies under the stars ~ Every evening in the summer there are kid friendly movies shown outside on the lawn. They have free popcorn for everyone as well! Bring your bug spray and if there is inclement weather they will move the movie into one of the ballrooms in the convention center.

*S’mores!!!~ Head down to the fire pit for complementary s’mores in the evenings. This is always our kids highlight of the night. Nothing like some yummy roasted marshmallows by a fire pit on vacation!

*Bike Riding~ This has a soft spot for me because one of my kids learned how to ride a bike here. There are great trails all over the resort and tons of bike sizes for any age!

Tennis courts where you can play tennis or pickleball. From a pool table to shuffleboard, horseshoes and a ping pong table you will always have some form of fun! Or grab one of the many rocking chairs around the resort and just relax!!
